2022 Spring Program

This documentary was created over the course of three months by Gilroy students ages 12-24 years who attended a hybrid mariachi ensemble/documentary filmmaking program. Be inspired by this youth ensemble that experimented with the culturally relevant mariachi genre of music whilst filming the entire immersive learning experience in a full-feature documentary made primarily on iPads. After this program, no student, teaching artist, community organizer, or administrator involved was ever the same. This exciting, innovative, and first-of-its-kind program in an under-resourced, but very resilient and empowered neighborhood in East Gilroy helped create dream equity for each student it touched!
